How to add a Facebook Like button to your website

Apr 17, 2012

I'm often asked what is the easiest way to get more Facebook likes.

There are hundreds of different creative ways to build your fan base, but one of the easiest and most important ways is to include links from your websites.

When someone stumbles upon your website, they may have a quick browse around and then move on. They may not be in buying mode yet so, they navigate away without making contact. However if that web visitor clicks the Facebook LIKE button on your website this allows you to continue engaging with that potential customer though Facebook meaning that when it does come time to buy, you are top of mind.

Considering you can manage the content of your own website, here are the steps you need to take to get a Facebook LIKE button on your website.

Facebook

Step 1: Click on 'Manage' and then 'Edit page' at the top of your Facebook business page in the admin panel.

Step 2: Click 'Resources' on the left and then 'Social Plugins'

Step 3: On the next screen select 'Like Button' or whatever social plugin you wish. There are several to choose form but here we are just talking about the LIKE button.

Step 4: The next screen is pretty self explanatory. Simply copy and paste your Facebook Business page URL into the 'URL to LIKE' box and select from the different options available such as size, font, etc.

Step 5: Click the 'Get Code' Button at the bottom and copy and paste this into the source code on your website.

There you have it. You are now ready to convert Web visitors into Facebook fans. Now to ramp up that Facebook content strategy.
